Parry is a normal person livin in the medieval ages. He is the son, albeit adopted, of a very powerful and famous magician. When he comes of age, he is asked to find a girl to marry him. Thus, he asks a petty farmer girl named Jolie to be his bride. However, he does not wish to force her into the relationship and slowly Jolie falls in love with him and they get married.

Parry becomes a master sorcerer but then gets attacked by a group of soldiers and in the fight, Jolie gets killed. When Thanatos comes to take her, he informs Parry that she has to stay in the mortal realm as a ghost. Parry asks him to allow her to stay close to him and Thanatos agrees by allowing Jolie to reside in a drop of blood on Parry’s wrist.

After reading the first one in the series, I was much too fascinated to stop reading the second one. This one just took me a couple of days to read through.

This book is about a simple guy called Norton who gets acquainted with a ghost called Gawain. Gawain wants Norton to sire his heir by getting ‘acquainted’ with his wife, Orlene. However, Fate has other plans, and he is hit by conscience which does not permit him to do it. He falls in love with Orlene and Orlene feels the same for him. Together they do sire the heir, but due to Gawain’s intervention, his son dies of a hereditary disease.

REVIEW:
I never though I would be a fan of fantasy fiction as much as I am now. This is the first book that Piers has written on the incarnations of the seven that are now doing the rounds. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I read the third one first and found it completely boring and threw it away. I regret that act now and will look for it again to read it once more with greater knowledge.
This book is about Death as an Incarnation and how he can ‘die’ and how he facilitates death. The story has too many characters at once that may throw you off the hook for a while, but as you continue reading you realize that you are hooked to Death and his work.
